Zillow is an extremely popular resource for people who are looking to find their home's value. However, their Zestimate isn't the most trustworthy valuation out there.

To find a Zestimate for your home, Zillow uses an algorithm based on recent home sales in your area to come up with a general price for your home. Zillow will give you a price, but then float it quite a bit each way. In other words, Zillow gives you a broad range of values rather than one number for you to base your asking price on.

Recently, we sold a home that had a Zestimate of $340,000 for $469,000! That's a pretty huge sum of money to be off by, and Zillow is that inaccurate all the time. If you're going to go For Sale By Owner, you need to do your research if you don't want to miss out on a lot of money when selling.

Zillow's Zestimate is often an amount well below what the market is. However, we also see Zillow severely overprice homes, which can make it difficult to sell your listing. Overall, it's best not to trust Zillow when it comes to finding an accurate price for your home.
